We produce the world’s lowest carbon leather thanks to our responsible sourcing, 100% traceability and innovative circular manufacturing process, which contributes to an independently verified Life Cycle Analysis score of 8kg CO 2e/m 2 on average, the lowest in the world published for leather.
Our beautifully crafted, sustainable automotive leather is produced in ways that will never use irreplaceable resources or damage the environment. Some of our key ‘Measurably Different’ numbers are highlighted through the eight Elements of Nature.

Air
We use certified 100% wind powered renewable electricity to power our leather manufacturing process, which has dramatically reduced the carbon intensity per hide of our leather.
Dark
We have reduced the average carbon intensity, measured as CO 2 equivalent, per hide of our leather by 90% by switching to renewable electricity and converting our process waste into energy.
Earth
All our rawhides are a by-product of the local food industry, from which we have 100% traceability, as certified by Leather Working Group. Our rawhides are sourced locally from the UK and Ireland from responsible suppliers, without risk of deforestation.
Fire
51% of each rawhide in weight is reclaimed as energy via our patented circular manufacturing process. Our Thermal Energy Plant converts this energy to heat to power our tannery, minimising waste to landfill and radically reducing our carbon footprint without any carbon off-setting.
Ice
Our parent company, Scottish Leather Group, launched its Zero Waste strategy in 2003 and our goal is to achieve zero for Scope 1 and 2 embedded carbon and zero process waste to landfill by 2025.
Light
Through our parent company, Scottish Leather Group’s Training Academy, we have developed over 70 apprentices across Manufacturing and Production and Maintenance Engineering to nurture future generations of leather experts to continue crafting our fine, sustainable automotive leather for years to come. We also now cover a range of disciplines, such as product design and IT, and also Graduate Apprenticeships.
Plant
Our sustainable leathers have at least 76% bio-based renewable carbon content and we are continuously researching new and pioneering innovations including the use of Bio and Plant-based leather finishing systems.
Water
Our energy efficient tannery uses 50% less water than the industry standard. Water re-use and recycling is an important part of our patented circular manufacturing process, minimising our impact on the local watershed and helping us to protect natural resources.
