Our New On-site Solar PV Array
Our parent company, Scottish Leather Group, has officially switched on a new Solar PV array at our Bridge of Weir manufacturing site, marking another significant milestone in our sustainability journey.
The installation supports the production of our leather with a lower environmental impact and further reduces the footprint of our operations.

The array spans more than three football pitches and features 4,348 solar panels, capable of generating up to 3.0 MW of clean electricity. Over the course of a year, it is expected to provide 24% of our site’s total electrical demand, reducing our reliance on the grid.
This investment builds on decades of progress in our circular leather manufacturing. From energy recovery and water reuse to material innovation, sustainability has long been central to our design and manufacturing approach.
Dr Warren Bowden, Head of Innovation and Sustainability, commented:
“Over the last two decades, Scottish Leather Group has continuously invested in strategic initiatives designed to optimise and improve the sustainability and circularity of our leather production. With our new Solar PV array, we are taking a step forward in the self-generation of on-site clean power, removing grid reliance, which further supports us as we rapidly accelerate towards achieving our target of 100 percent zero greenhouse gas emissions for our operations.”
The installation comes during a milestone year for us, as in 2025, we celebrated our 120th anniversary. This demonstrates how we continue to combine heritage and innovation while supporting our OEM partners in achieving their climate goals.
