The lowest carbon footprint leather in the industry.
There’s radical change happening right now in automotive manufacturing. Massive decarbonisation targets across the industry - and we’re right there with our customers, supporting some of the most ambitious sustainability targets in the world. It’s a challenge we’ll face together. It’s what drives us to keep producing the world’s most sustainable leather. And to help our customers achieve lasting carbon reduction goals.
Leather is an environmentally sustainable product and we are committed to producing it in an environmentally responsible manner. It's our commitment to innovative technology that gives us the lowest carbon footprint of any leather maker in the world.
Within the group we have a multi-million pound thermal energy plant which converts process waste into energy, some of which directly powers our tannery, minimising waste to landfill and significantly reduces our carbon footprint.
We also built a proprietary ultra-filtration plant, which enables us to treat the waste water from our tannery, and recycle up to 40% of our treated water back into production. Treated wastewater not reused by us is further treated by Scottish Water, before being reintroduced, with zero impact to the local water system.
In recognition of our low-carbon leather production, our parent company Scottish Leather Group received the Environmental Award at the UK’s Energy Institute Awards.
Our annual Sustainability Report summarises our activities, commitments and innovation agenda. All supporting and driving us towards a more sustainable future.
